Overview
A one-day internal instructor development course that builds the skills needed to deliver adult and paediatric Basic Life Support training. Learners plan and facilitate BLS teaching sessions and refine their approach to teaching CPR, Automated External Defibrillator use, and the immediate management of choking and anaphylaxis. The course aligns with current Resuscitation Council UK guidance to support accurate, consistent, and safe BLS training in the workplace.
Audience
This course is suitable for clinical and non-clinical staff who teach, or plan to teach, basic life support to others.
Learning objectives
- Demonstrate safe assessment, management and escalation of unresponsive adults and children in accordance with current RCUK guidance, including CPR and AED use.
- Teach and assess BLS skills in practice, including giving feedback, maintaining psychological safety, and making reasonable adjustments where needed.
- Explain key legal, ethical, and practical considerations related to BLS and training equipment.
